Pilates

What is Pilates?

For triathletes, golfers, swimmers, gymnasts, dancers, tennis players, runners, football/rugby players and any outdoor adventurer, Pilates works to strengthen and lengthen muscles, increasing flexibility, dexterity and overall health. In Pilates, every exercise is performed with attention to the breath, proper form, and efficient movement patterns.
For Back, Knee, hip & shoulder injuries, Pilates is widely recommended by physical therapists, chiropractors and osteopaths, more than any other exercise method.
Pilates works helps to improve balance and coordination, and to relieve stress from the body, but lets face it….it’s really all about the CORE!

Why Pilates?

Pilates is proven to strengthen our core muscles more than any other form of exercise, which is key to improving posture, balance, athletic performance and back health.
Following a systematic order of stretch and strengthen, the exercises move the body through all planes of movement, which creates mobility through the spine, improving circulation and postural alignment, creating long, lean and flexible muscles. We focus on quality over quantity!
Pilates goes beyond the surface muscles to target our deep stabilizing muscles to increase mobility within a safe range of function so as to avoid injury or stress on any joints or links in our body. Building long, lean muscles along with proper breathing principles helps to burn calories, increase metabolism and regenerate tissue, thereby promoting weight loss without impact or pain.
Each class is customized to meet the needs and abilities of the clients.
